Welcome to the Faculty of Accountancy and thank you for visiting our website. Please kindly browse through to experience what we have. The Faculty of Accountancy, UiTM has grown from the time it first started from its humble beginning in 1956, with its first accountancy program being introduced with the establishment of RIDA College in Petaling Jaya. The program was the London Chambers of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), a UK accounting program. Later in 1967, we offered two more new programs which are the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and our own Diploma in Accountancy (DIA). From then on, the Faculty of Accountancy did not turn back, it went on to grow over the years to become a Faculty that is reckoned to be one of the best in the country. It now offers undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programs. Our undergraduate programs are uniquely tailored to closely match the requirements of the UK Professional qualifications, ACCA and CIMA. As a result, the graduates from our programs are granted the maximum subject exemptions from the two largest UK accounting professional bodies.
The Faculty's vision is to become a leading reference centre and a catalyst to the accounting profession. The Faculty is excited by the changes in and challenges from the borderless world that we are in now, the high demands and expectations from employers in the industry, the academic, economic and social mobility and the fast changing world of information and communication technology. We take pride in the opportunity to shape the nation's future leaders from among the new millennial generation; the generation Y who are open-minded, confident, self-expressive, liberal, upbeat and receptive to new ideas and ways of living.
The Faculty aims to develop scholarly expertise and academic integ rity in teaching, research and innovation in accounting. The Faculty commits to produce professional graduates with commendable ethical values and entrepreneurial mindsets who are employable locally and internationally. It advocates student-centered pedagogy as it believes that students must be empowered to define their own destiny by being responsible for their own learning. Through the student-centered approach, learning would be more meaningful to the students, equipping them with other desirable traits to be holistic individuals whilst also promoting life-long learning; instead of being too degree-centric, going just for the degree scrolls.
If you are a prospective student or staff, we welcome you to join us, the oldest and the largest accounting faculty in the country, with open arms. If you are an alumnus/alumina, we look forward to working with you for the betterment of the Faculty. If you are already a student or a Faculty member, I hope that our web site would facilitate your work and I welcome any improvement that you may reckon.
As the Dean of this Faculty, I am humbled as well as thrilled to experience the momentous journey that our students go through, to share the joy of the achievements of our graduates and to feel proud of the contributions and dedication of our Faculty members. I am inspired by how much more each of us can do and must do to for our Faculty to be even better to meet the enormous demands of the profession.
