Yesterday, we witnessed the strengthening of academic ties and the forging of a new strategic alliance between two esteemed educational institutions, through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia and the University of Portsmouth (UoP), United Kingdom. This collaboration between UiTM and the UoP marked a significant milestone in UiTM’s commitment to creating an even stronger international academic presence toward achieving UiTM’s Globally Renowned University (GRU) agenda by 2025. The signing of this MoU between the two institutions also formalises a partnership that will produce new synergies of high academic value, leading to many joint scholarly, research initiatives as well as student and staff mobility activities for UoP and UiTM in the years ahead.

During the auspicious virtual MoU signing event, UoP was represented by Mr. Chris Chang, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement and Student Life), Professor Homagni Choudhury, Head of School of Accounting, Economics and Finance, Professor Khaled Hussainey, Professor of Accounting and Finance, and Ms Lena Itangata, Assistant Head Global, School of Accounting, Economics and Finance. UiTM was represented by YBhg. Prof. Datin Dr. Suzana Sulaiman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), YBhg. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Naqiyuddin Bakar, Director Global Strategic Partnership, UiTM Global and YBhg. Prof. Dr. Haslinda Yusoff, Dean Faculty of Accountancy as well as the Top Management from the Faculty of Accountancy. This MoU is one of the successful outcomes of the Faculty of Accountancy Networking Trip to the United Kingdom held in October/November 2022, initiated by YBhg. Prof. Datin Dr. Suzana Sulaiman and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khairul Ayuni Mohd Kharuddin. The person in charge for this MOU is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khairul Ayuni Mohd Kharuddin.
